Mr. Hatfield accepts Program Service Administrator position at GWAEA.

Superintendent Hatfield has communicated with the West Branch Board of Education that he will become the next Program Service Administrator (PSA) for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency beginning July 1, 2018.  Mr. Hatfield will provide the Board a formal resignation at the April 9, 2018, Board of Education meeting.

Mr. Hatfield is completing his seventh year as our superintendent.  He reached out early to the community to begin the work of shaping the district's future with a strategic plan and 21st Century curriculum and programming updates.

In addition to educational program improvements, under Mr. Hatfield’s leadership, the district has effectively utilized P.P.E.L and S.A.V.E. levies to complete multiple facility improvements projects: new 5th grade classrooms at W.B.M.S. to allow for preschool programming at Hoover Elementary School, West Branch High School parking lot expansions, Hoover locker room and restroom remodels, carpeting in hallways and classrooms across the district, a  new one-way design for the middle school parking lot, an emergency fire lane and additional fire hydrant support, as well as the recently completed Multiuse Facility.

Mr. Hatfield has always had an emphasis on open communication and ongoing community participation and has been involved and highly visible in the community. He is a student-centered leader!

"I am honored to have served as your superintendent! The West Branch Community School District is a wonderful place. I want to thank current and former board members, parents and the community for the support and kindness they have shown.  I also want to thank our outstanding students and dedicated staff! I feel fortunate to have played a small part in helping to shape the educational experiences West Branch students enjoy today!”

The Board of Education will begin the search process for Mr. Hatfield’s successor immediately.

Julie Sexton, Board President
