On behalf of the faculty and staff at West Branch High School, welcome! West Branch has established incredible traditions and legacies throughout the years. WBHS offers students the unique opportunity to be known as individuals and become active leaders within their school. Leadership at West Branch High School is a student expectation. Students can experience leadership in many avenues including: academics, athletics, extra- curricular activities, fine arts, and CTE programming.

It is our number one priority to create a learning environment that ensures high levels of academic success for all students. We will continue to hire and train the best candidates to join our staff. Our competent and dedicated staff cares about our students. We will continue to make decisions based on whatever’s best for kids! The excellence we have achieved is not by accident; it is a direct result of a collaborative effort between West Branch High School and our community.

Success occurs in many different ways for West Branch’s students. West Branch High School students will be pushed to achieve at high levels in their academic pursuits. Advanced Placement classes are currently offered in the Language Arts, Science, and Social Sciences areas as well as a variety of Dual Credit Courses through Kirkwood Community College taught on our high school campus. In addition, we are transitioning to a standards based reporting system. It is our goal that all students are proficient at all identified course standards.

In addition, West Branch has many options for success in the fine arts and extracurricular departments. Fine Arts opportunities include: chorus, show choir, band, theater and drama, drawing, painting, pottery, digital photography, graphic arts, and art appreciation. Extracurricular activities include: Student Government, Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Bowling, Basketball, Wrestling, Soccer, Track, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Community Service, National Honor Society, Speech and Debate, and FFA.

We hope you will take the time to look throughout our web pages and enjoy the numerous opportunities available to all the students who are part of our Bear family. We believe our students’ years at WBHS will provide an opportunity to be champions in whatever endeavor they undertake and we are very proud of each and every student!
