Main St Project Update for Tuesday, August 4
Beginning Tuesday, August 4, access to the Middle School/High School campus will be limited due to the ongoing Main Street construction project.
The only way to enter the MS/HS campus will be from Dawson Street, crossing Main Street into the campus. All other access points from Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic. This traffic pattern will remain in effect until further notice.
We appreciate your continued patience, understanding, and flexibility as the City completes this important project. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
Main St Project Update for Monday, August 4
Beginning this coming Monday morning August 3, the north lane of Main Street will be completely closed while crews apply the final layer of pavement. As a result, the Dawson Drive entrance to the MS/HS campus will be closed.
To access the MS/HS campus on Monday:

Entering Campus: Please use the Cedar/Johnson roundabout and travel east on Main Street’s south lane to enter through the west entrance (entrance between the MS/HS buildings).

Exiting Campus: Please exit through the east entrance (entrance across from Dawson St.), turn east onto Main Street, and remain on the south lane to Brown Ford. From there, you can follow the posted detour routes to travel west toward Iowa City via Herbert Hoover Highway.
We will send another update on Monday afternoon with information about campus access for Tuesday, as construction schedules may change based on project progress.

The city will begin construction on Main Street in front of the Middle School and High School campuses starting this week. The project is expected to continue throughout most of the summer and will temporarily impact access to our campuses.
During construction, access to the east entrance will only be available via Dawson Drive. The west entrance will only be accessible by traveling east on Main Street from the Hoover Highway roundabout.
To help with navigation, we have included a map outlining the approved access routes during construction. The highlighted “green paths” indicate how to access each entrance.
